California does not currently have a graduation requirement for personal finance. However, recent legislation has been passed that will require a semester long personal finance course offered in all high schools from 2026-27. Starting in the 2030-31 school year, high school students will be required to take either a one-semester economics course, or a personal finance elective to graduate. The PersonalFinanceLab team will soon be aligning our learning materials to these standards once the bill is passed. Personal Finance teachers from California generally adhere to the Jump$tart National Standards (which we align with), which you can find by clicking “Personal Finance” below.
